» About Grunden Bois :
Grunden Bois is an athletes association, open for all people, but we especially bare those people with disabilities in mind. Something that we in Bois feel strongly about is that everyone who wants can join up and be a part of the fellowship, no matter the severity of the handicap or skill level. To participate and experience the joy and togetherness that comes from a life in sports makes for a good life, even outside the realms of sports. When we started out we had these small training session on a small speck of grass along Delsjövägen, Gothenburg. We did this about once every week. But little by little, more and more people showed up for practice.

Eventually we realised it was time to get serious and play some actual matches. What's the point of practicing if you're not going to utilize any of it? The first match we ever played was against a team consisting of the leaders of a community center. The next step for us was to set up a tournament, which was to be held at Överåsvallen, so we invited teams from the western region of Sweden to participate in this event. At this stage we finally had our practices in proper order and we noticed that the number of players showing up each week steadily increased as time went by. Some time later, after wondering what to do next, we in 1995 decided to sign up for the SHIF's league*. Grunden Bois first appearance would be at The National Indoor Championships in Lund. Grunden Bois finished in 9th place that tournament. But from this point on, the results would start to improve for us, as well as the number of active players within the association. Today we have roughly about 250 players, men and female represented. The small speck of grass we used to play on has been replaced with our very own clubhouse in Kviber's sports centre and our quite modest placing at number 9 in the national championships has been traded in for the gold medal! And, as stated earlier, Grunden Bois has since 2003 become an independent athlete association.
